Stable management systems compared: Horstable, Hovera, Equicty, EquineM and others

Honest comparison of 7 stable management systems in 2026: Horstable, Nasza Stajnia, Hovera, Equicty, EquineM, Mosson Stable, BarnManager. Feature table, pricing, who each fits.

Yes — this article is written by the Hovera team, so an honest disclaimer up front: I have an economic interest in you choosing Hovera. That’s why I wrote this in a way that’s actually useful even if you end up picking something else. Each competitor gets a fair description. I point out where they beat us. Links to their sites — no games.

If you’d prefer a comparison from a neutral source, GetApp and Capterra reviews are good. This text is based on:

  • Public information from each vendor
  • Demos of every system (we tried each)
  • Conversations with 30+ stable owners using a mix of these tools

Horstable

Site: horstable.com Scale: 1 400+ riders, 400+ instructors (May 2026 per their site) Price: Starter free / Mini €18 / Midi €40 / Maxi €70

Strengths

  • Very good mobile app — native iOS + Android, good UX, real App Store reviews
  • 1:1 onboarding — Horstable team personally helps with setup. One of the best onboardings in the industry.
  • Clean UX for school — UI designed for riding school, not generic “horse management”
  • Real traction — 1400+ riders use it, system is proven

Weaknesses

  • School-only — no boarding, no breeding, no real sport. A 30-horse boarding stable has no offer.
  • Client limits per plan — Mini 30 clients, Midi 90, only Maxi unlimited. The bigger you grow, the more you pay even if you don’t need Maxi features.
  • No owner portal (key for boarding)
  • No public API — bookkeeping integrations are manual

When to pick

  • Small to mid-sized riding school (up to 100 clients)
  • Where 1:1 rollout is a priority (less technical owners)
  • Kids/family client base (UX optimized for that segment)

When NOT to pick

  • Significant boarding (15+ boarded horses)
  • Breeding stable
  • Multi-disciplinary operation (sport + school + livery)

Nasza Stajnia

Site: nasza-stajnia.pl Price: €15 / €30 / mo

Strengths

  • Cheapest PL system
  • SMS bundle — 200/400 messages monthly included
  • Strong staff/payroll module
  • Polish support

Weaknesses

  • No native mobile app — web-only
  • Smaller team — slower update cadence
  • No boarding module
  • UX less polished than Horstable or Hovera

When to pick

  • Very tight budget
  • SMS-heavy client communication
  • Complex staff payroll

When NOT to pick

  • Field staff want phone-based work (no app)
  • International ambitions (PL-only)

Equicty (Belgium)

Site: equicty.com Price: ~€50-150/mo

Strengths

  • Widest feature set in Europe — school, livery, breeding, sport, racing
  • Hoofy AI assistant — first AI chatbot in the industry (since 2024)
  • Smart Stable Board — dedicated 32” touchscreen for the stable (optional hardware)
  • Mature — 8+ years on the market
  • Multi-discipline — works for many stable types

Weaknesses

  • No Polish language
  • Support only EN, FR, NL
  • Significantly higher price (€50-150 = €600-1800/year)
  • Hardware investment for full value (Smart Stable Board ~€3-5k)
  • Complex onboarding (better for technical users)

When to pick

  • Stable expanding to BE/NL/DE
  • Premium operation with €5k+/year tooling budget
  • Multi-discipline center wanting all-in-one
  • Values AI features

When NOT to pick

  • Stable with B2B invoicing in Poland (no KSeF)
  • Smaller scale (€10-30/mo budget)
  • Daily English not comfortable

EquineM (Netherlands)

Site: equinem.com Price: ~€30-80/mo

Strengths

  • 10+ years on market — very mature
  • EquiBoard — own tablet for stable mounting
  • Multi-platform — web, iOS, Android, EquiBoard
  • Strong reports
  • Lower price than Equicty
  • Loyal NL/BE/DE base

Weaknesses

  • UX feels like 2015 — not significantly redesigned in years
  • No real breeding module
  • No AI
  • No Polish
  • Slower update cadence

When to pick

  • Stable with NL/DE ambitions, lower budget than Equicty
  • Operations valuing maturity over UI freshness
  • Heavy reporting needs

When NOT to pick

  • PL B2B invoicing
  • UI modernity matters

Mosson Stable (Scandinavia)

Site: mossonstable.com Price: ~€40-100/mo

Strengths

  • Scandinavian languages + DE and EN
  • Strong sport / racing module (Scandinavian specialty)
  • Clean Scandinavian UX
  • EU hosted (Denmark)

Weaknesses

  • No Polish
  • Less recognized in Central Europe
  • Light school module — more for boarding/sport
  • Smaller team — slower responses

When to pick

  • Polish breeding farms exporting to Scandinavia
  • Polish racing operations
  • Clients in DK/SE/NO/DE

When NOT to pick

  • Riding school
  • No international ambitions

BarnManager and StableSecretary (USA)

Brief — for most European stables they aren’t practical:

BarnManager — mature US-centric system. Strong reports, good mobile, but:

  • No EU compliance (GDPR issue with US hosting)
  • No EU e-invoicing
  • EN support, US time zone
  • ~$30-80/mo

StableSecretary — very good for horse health + billing, but:

  • US-centric
  • No EU compliance
  • ~$30/mo

For: European clients hosting horses in the USA (rare) or with English-only teams.

Hovera — what we do differently

Since this is our blog, I owe a paragraph on us. Keeping it fair: I’ll show where we’re not the best yet.

Site: hovera.app Price: Free / €19 / €59 / €119 / Enterprise on request

What we do better (in our view)

  • EU e-invoicing as a native feature from day one, included in Stable+ — first in the equestrian industry
  • Multi-discipline from day 1 — school + livery in one price, no add-ons
  • No client limits — we limit horses and staff seats, never end clients. Clients = revenue for you = we don’t penalize success.
  • Public stable micro-site — every stable gets an SEO-friendly page with online booking (lead gen tool)
  • Open API (Q4 2026) — full bookkeeping, ERP, sport software integration

Where competitors do better

  • Equicty has AI (Hoofy), we’re working on ours (Q3 2026)
  • EquineM has 10+ years of maturity, we have < 1 year
  • Horstable has more recognition in Poland through traction
  • Mosson has stronger sport / racing than us currently
  • BarnManager has more developed US-style reports

How to actually pick

Honest decision tree:

1. Are you primarily a riding school? → Horstable or Hovera 2. Are you primarily boarding? → Hovera or Equicty 3. Are you primarily breeding? → Equicty or EquineM (Hovera Q3 2026) 4. Multi-discipline? → Hovera or Equicty 5. Tightest budget? → Free Hovera or Nasza Stajnia 6. Need EU e-invoicing? → Hovera (the only PL-native with full support) 7. Polish-only operation? → Horstable, Nasza Stajnia or Hovera (skip foreign) 8. International from start? → Equicty (premium) or EquineM (mid-budget)

Try Hovera

We won’t claim Hovera is for everyone. It’s for stables that need:

  • Modern mobile-first UX
  • B2B-grade EU e-invoicing from day 1
  • Multi-discipline (school + boarding + sport)
  • Polish or international operation
